Evolve your cloud security knowledge

Sponsored Post Our reliance on the cloud continues to grow steadily, with a greater variety of services than ever being hosted in it.

The unfortunate corollary of this increasing dependence is that cybercrooks are more attracted to cracking open cloud platforms so they can help themselves to our data.

Maybe not surprising then that cloud security often tops the CISO agenda but it’s a complex topic to keep on top of. Anybody wanting to get better acquainted with this ever-changing landscape should ringfence Tuesday 27 August in their diary, the date of the SANS Cloud Security Exchange 2024 event.

Entirely free of charge, this annual meeting of top security minds is an opportunity for security professionals everywhere to learn from, and network with, experts and peers to build on their existing cloud security knowledge. This virtual event features insights from some big names in the cloud industry – Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure – for example as well as experienced thought leaders and instructors from the SANS Institute itself.

Those tuning in can get the inside track on the latest and most effective cloud security architectures and pick up tips on cloud threat detection. They can swap notes on best practices and harvest actionable advice to help build robust cloud security capabilities for their organisation.

As well as hearing from panels of experts, attendees can join in with interactive sessions where they can ask questions and get answers from experts in real time. They will be able to draw on a wealth of knowledge and resources that can be built immediately into their cloud security strategies. Plus, they will get five Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits to add to those they have already gained from participating in specialised training, counting towards valuable professional certification.

Let’s take a closer look at a few of the sessions that will be available on the day:

Evolving Cloud Security with a Modern Approach: Dr Anton Chuvakin, Security Advisor with Google Cloud and will be exploring why organisations struggle to implement effective cloud security, despite the availability of traditional best practices. He will examine some of the newer best practices that are evolving.

Identity Modernization: Angelica Faber of Microsoft and Simon Vernon of the SANS Institute will talk about the shifting landscape of digital identity and the impact of Generative AI technologies on it.

Secure by Design: Guiding Principles for Proactive Security: Paul Vixie, a VP with AWS and Eric Johnson of the SANS Institute will examine embracing security as a core business requirement with Secure by Design principles.

AI Security Challenges, Hype, and Opportunities: Brandon Evans and Ahmed Abugharbia of the SANS Institute will address the way AI can enable criminals to leverage new attack vectors.

Senior security professionals can use this unique event to network with thousands of like-minded attendees from around the world, all passionate about advancing cloud security.
